Established in 1998, Beach Montessori School is owned, operated and staffed by AMI trained and certified teachers. We pride ourselves on our commitment to Maria Montessori's principles of education as an aid to life. Beach Montessori is delighted to announce the addition of a full-day program, beginning September 2008. Ideally suited for the 2nd and 3rd year child (aged 3.5+ - 5.5), this is for the child who no longer requires an afternoon nap and will fully benefit from a full day of Montessori learning.
The full day at Beach Montessori provides the invaluable continuity of environment, materials and teacher. The hours for the full-day program will be 8:50 A.M. – 2:40 PM. The half-day program, operating from 8:50 A.M. – 11:50 A.M., Monday to Friday, will continue to be available. The morning Casa program is recommended for children (aged 2.5 to 3.5) as an introduction to Montessori. The benefits of a full-day at Beach Montessori are numerous: Lunch Eating is a social ritual that encompasses many human niceties, and we will endeavor to ensure that our lunch period reflects this. The children will participate in creating a lovely atmosphere in which to eat. Tablecloths will be spread, place settings laid out, and so forth. Social interaction, grace and courtesy are all essential elements for your child’s development, and will be incorporated into our mealtime. Children will bring prepared lunches from home. Your child will eat what you know she/he likes, and, just as importantly, what you like your child to eat. Microwave and refrigeration are available on the premises.
Recess Lunch will be followed by outdoor recess. Our Beach neighborhood offers a plethora of wonderful spots, and we will take full advantage of them. Daily outings will include playtime at the Beach, the park, or the ravine. In cases of extreme inclement weather, indoor recess will be held in the Church auditorium with a full array of activity equipment. Afternoon Session Here, your child will go beyond what he/she has been doing during the morning period. This will be the time for your child to delve into more advanced activities, and further develop powers of concentration and focus. Working in the same environment, yet among fewer and older classmates, your child will benefit from more individualized work. This is ideal preparation for what lies ahead after your child graduates from Beach Montessori. We maintain a student to staff ratio of 8:1. The school is licensed under the Day Nurseries Act accordingly, we issue tax receipts.
